A crime against humanity

Housing is no longer just a place to live-it has become a commodity. Landlords both large and small, have reshaped the housing market by manipulating demand and inflating prices. 

For decades, homes were primarily seen as a place to live. Today, they are increasingly treated as financial assets, bought and sold for profit rather than shelter. Landlords purchase homes not to live in them, but to extract rent or resell at inflated prices. This shifts the housing market away from serving human needs towards serving financial gain.

For renters, Landlords dominance means higher rents and fewer chances to buy. Families are outbid by cash offers from corporat and wealthy individuals, leaving them trapped on the financial treadmill of the rental cycle. Even when renters could afford a mortgage, they are denied ownership because investors inflate home values beyond reach.

Landlorsds, both large and small distort the basic supply-and-demand equation. By purchasing large numbers of homes, they reduce supply for ordinary buyers. At the same time, they create artificial demand, driving up prices. This manipulation ensures that housing remains scarce and expensive, forcing more people into long-term renting.

Landlords' involvement widens the gap between rich and poor. Lanlords both large and small accumulate wealth, while renters see their money siphoned away. This inequality is compounded by government policies that favor investment returns over human rights, deepening the crisis of affordability and security.
